Maryam’s works are best categorized as abstract painting. She is prolific in creating geometric shapes, organic forms, diverse as well as focused color pallets, and bodies of work that collectively make up the experiences the artist has during a period of creation and production. Maryam’s ability to conduct her visual creation through continuous sessions of experimentation with material, i.e. paint, medium, and size, in coordination with her locality and her socio-psychological inputs, has provided her a wide latitude of expressive elements. Aside from the abstract forms she paints, she translates her experience into the final canvas as a series of alternatives: the minor changes in her layers and forms, and her subtle play on shadow and light, contribute to a unifying sense of the hidden narrative that bounds the shifting shapes into a storyline within the series’ timeframe of creation and production.
